Cudos to Jet Blue and Travelzoo.com for maybe THE best promotion of Colombia I've seen.

The article starts out like this.. ¨Maybe you started thinking about Colombia when it was proclaimed the Western Hemisphere’s most beautiful country in a widely reported 2022 study. Or when you began noticing how often Colombian cities seemed to land on the big annual “where to go” lists, from Medellin’s inclusion in The New York Times 52 Places to go in 2023 to Cartagena’s appearance on Travel + Leisure’s 50 Best Places to Travel in 2024.¨
The article has very nice features on Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena with tidbits on other great areas to visit like Cali, Santa Marta and San Andres. They left out the famed Coffee Zone unfortunately. In each city, they highlight a few of the top places to see, things to do and a few top restaurants.
It's hard to capture all of Colombia´s ¨must see¨ places to visit and things to do in one article. Probably need to pick up Foder´s Colombia to do all that.

Traveling to Colombia:
You will need a US or other country Passport. You can stay up to 90 days, then get a renewal for another 90 days. This is based on a calendar year so you could theoretically arrive in the first week in July and stay until the end of the year with the renewal, then stay again until the end of June ...potentially a full year with just your passport.
There are countless daily flights direct from the US and Europe and tons of connecting flights through Panama and other countries. Colombia has many international airports. Bogota, Medellin, Cali, Pereira, Armenia, Barranquilla, Bucaramanga and San Andres. Virtually all the major airlines: Delta, American, United, Jet Blue, Avianca, LATAM, Spirit and many more have flights to Colombia.

More Bang for the Buck ! Colombia scores very high on the value scale. Colombia is the 12th lowest cost of living country in the world according to numbeo.com the world's largest crowdfunding data base. Colombia has a cost of living index (COLI) of 27.6. Compare that to the US with a COLI of 74.2. What that means is let's say you buy a basket of groceries in Colombia for $27.60. That exact same basket of groceries would cost you about $74.20 in the US. Just about everything in Colombia is about 1/3rd the cost in the US. Costa Rica´s COLI is 53.0...basically double Colombia´s. Panama is 48.2. Mexico is 42.4.
What makes this so important is that not only is Colombia a lot cheaper than these other places but the standard of living in Colombia is just as high, if not higher.
Colombia is also not seasonal like Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama and the Caribbean where prices during the high season (Dec 1 to April 1) can literally double or triple and every place is packed. The high season is limited to like Dec 15 to Jan 15 and Easter/Spring break....that´s about it. Definitely avoid those times to fly and vacation if you can.
